COPYWRITING

I’ve always loved writing. Some of my favorite promos I’ve ever created weren’t built around flashy editing or graphics — they worked because the copy connected emotionally. That’s usually the moment I’m chasing: letting go of the buzzwords and writing something that actually feels real.

Before TV news, I worked in travel marketing for Collette Vacations, writing brochures, ads, direct mail, and promotional copy inspired by the places I was lucky enough to experience firsthand. I suppose my storytelling obsession started way before that, though....  flashback to little Jamie, writing fake sitcom scripts, WWE storylines, and even a pretend talk show on my living room couch. Looking back… I was probably born for this.

Here's some of my favorite TV spots, focused on copywriting.  For me, the secret sauce is pacing, cadence, voice… knowing when to hit hard, when to pull back, and how to make a message feel human. Sometimes the right line is cinematic. Sometimes it’s conversational. Sometimes it’s just five simple words delivered at exactly the right moment.

A one-minute epic promo tying Tom Brady's highly anticipated return to Foxborough - a big TV event that drew massive attention. The concept tied Bray's #12 directly into the WPRI 12 brand.

Rhode Island, emerging from the pandemic, built around the state motto: HOPE.

A cinematic one-minute image campaign, showcasing the intensity, credibility and impact for our investigative team.

Gritty, old-school promo built around a notorious mob heist... with dramatic pacing to heighten intrigue.

Another powerful promo highlighting our investigative team and their relentless pursuit for accountability.

Gritty, mysterious promo built around a decades-old cold case, using suspense-driven pacing to draw viewers in.

Created an emotional investigative campaign for a series uncovering unmarked graves... hidden to make way for a state highway project.

Old-school, gotcha promo - a state worker, caught sleeping on the job.
