James' Resume

I’m a creative who’s been making TV promos for 20+ years. I write it, shoot it, edit it, design it… whatever it takes to turn a blank timeline into something that actually makes people stop and watch.

Most of my career’s been in news, which means fast deadlines, real stakes, and no patience for fluff. You learn pretty quickly how to grab attention, tell a clear story, and get out. That mindset carries into everything I do... whether it’s launching a streaming app, promoting an investigative series, or just trying to make the next :30 hit a little harder than the last one.

At the end of the day, I like making things that connect. Clean, sharp, a little emotional when it needs to be… and always with a purpose.

Emmy-winning Senior Promotions Producer leading on-air marketing, brand strategy, and audience growth for a top-rated local television station.

 

Drive end-to-end creative for high-impact campaigns promoting news, original programming, and digital platforms... from concept and copywriting through production, post, and final delivery. Develop messaging across broadcast, streaming, social, and digital channels to maximize reach and engagement.

 

Shape the station’s brand voice and positioning, aligning daily news promotion with larger strategic initiatives, including the launch and growth of streaming and original content platforms.

 

Oversee and mentor a team of producers, elevating creative standards, refining copy, and ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across all deliverables.

 

Partner closely with newsroom and executive leadership to identify promotable stories and position them for maximum audience impact.

 

Senior Producer – The Last Don of Providence -  Served as a core member of the four-person production team behind this long-form documentary on Luigi Manocchio. Led promotional strategy and campaign execution; contributed to field production, visual design, and post-production, including creation of the film’s title card and marketing assets.

TL;DR:  Inside this creative brain is full execution — writing, shooting, editing, and designing promos that drive audience growth. 

COPYWRITER
Collette Vacations
1999 - 2001 
Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA

Copywriter for the company’s marketing department, responsible for brochures, direct mail, print advertising, and destination materials. Traveled internationally to experience and write about featured locations firsthand.

 

Developed messaging for three distinct audiences: consumers purchasing tours, alumni and affinity group leaders recruiting travelers, and travel agents responsible for selling and promoting the programs.

 

Helped shape Collette’s brand positioning as a provider of once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences.

 

Work appeared in national publications including Travel + Leisure and National Geographic Traveler.
